Chad W. Rappaport, dpm, facfas
BIO
Dr. Rappaport was born in New York, but was raised in Franklin Lakes. After attending Indian Hills High School he completed undergraduate studies at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and the Des Moines University Medical Center (DMUMC). He went on to attend podiatric medical school at DMUMC. He graduated in 2003, and was awarded a position in one of the nation’s top foot and ankle podiatric surgical residencies in Hoboken, NJ. His training included numerous surgeries under the supervision and mentoring of John Feder, MD, Long Island’s first foot and ankle fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon.
Upon completion of his residency program, Dr. Rappaport spent the first few years of private practice with a large orthopaedic group in central Pennsylvania. During this time, Dr. Rappaport became board certified in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery and Foot Surgery by the highly selective American Board of Podiatric Surgery. Out of nearly 15,000 podiatrists in the country, fewer than 600 have this distinction.
It was at this time that Dr. Rappaport was invited to spend time with Mark Myerson, MD. Dr. Myerson is highly regarded as the world’s most renowned and influential foot and ankle orthopaedic surgeon. He has authored numerous scientific papers and his surgical textbooks are considered to be the ultimate reference source for foot and ankle surgeons.
Dr. Rappaport’s training with Dr. Myerson was followed by two years with an orthopaedic group in central New Jersey, and Dr. Rappaport is now proud to join Kayal Orthopaedic Center, PC. The switch has been a homecoming in many ways for him. Dr. Rappaport evaluates and treats the entire spectrum of foot and ankle conditions. From simple athlete’s foot to complicated surgical reconstructive procedures, Dr. Rappaport prides himself on his bedside manner and constant search for innovative treatment of the foot and ankle.
In his spare time, Dr. Rappaport enjoys basketball, golf, skiing and weight training–but most of all he loves to laugh with his daughter, Kathryn Elizabeth.
